A Collection of Sacred Hymns for the Church of the Latter-Day Saints

Williams and Emma Smith.  Originally published in 1836 at Kirtland, Ohio, as a words-only hymnbook, this first hymnbook of the Mormon church is now published in a words-and-music format.  For each hymn, this collection lists historical notes concerning the author, composer, tune name, an early published source for the tune, and an estimate of the probability that the tune was used with this text around 1836. The hymnbook is 238 pages long,  in three and four-staff choral notation (shape-notes and round-notes).

The Harp of Nauvoo
Songs, hymns and anthems from Nauvoo, Illinois (1839 - 1846) arranged and selected by Kurt F. Kammeyer.   Drawn from lyrics found in The Times and Seasons, the semimonthly newspaper of the LDS Church in Nauvoo.  The tunes range from early shape-note tunes in use at that time, to tunes found in the Latter-day Saints' Psalmody (1889).  A unique collection of music from this early period in Church history.  The book includes both shape-note and round-note music.  The shape-note tunes are in three and four-staff choral notation, while the round-note music is in two-staff hymn notation.  Also included is a collection of solo and choral ballads with keyboard accompaniment.  The book is 108 pages long.

The Kirtland Temple Dedication 
28 pages long, in 8 1/2" x 11" choral format, softbound.  Includes arrangements of all six of the hymns that were sung at the original dedication, plus O God Th'Eternal Father.  Each hymn is preceded by a narration by various persons who participated in the original dedication (Joseph and Emma Smith, Sidney Rigdon, Frederick G. Williams, etc.)  The reenacted program is about one hour in length, and requires a choir of at least 50 voices, plus organist and narrators.
